The average export price for wood stood at $9.1 per cubic meter in December 2021, falling by -11.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2021 when the average export price increased by 32% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $11.4 per cubic meter in February 2021; however, from March 2021 to December 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($10.9 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Austria ($5.1 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for wood stood at $8.4 per cubic meter in 2022, waning by -5.7% against the previous year. Over the last five-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +7.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 18% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $8.9 per cubic meter, and then fell in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($37 per cubic meter), while the price for Hungary ($3.2 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Croatia (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, overseas shipments of wood increased by 3% to 550K cubic meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt downturn. The exports peaked at 846K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of wood fell to $5.2M in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 1.1% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $8M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports of wood into Slovenia fell rapidly to 293K cubic meters in 2022, which is down by -19% on 2021 figures. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +30.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 61%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 362K cubic meters, and then declined significantly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of wood reduced sharply to $2.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 90%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $3.2M, and then plummeted in the following year.
