The average export price for wood stood at $12 per cubic meter in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 7.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $18 per cubic meter in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($24 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Finland ($9.7 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+15.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for wood stood at $3.7 per cubic meter in 2022, with a decrease of -5.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated strong growth from 2017 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% over the last five-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for wood increased by +51.5% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 14%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3.9 per cubic meter in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Estonia ($7 per cubic meter), while the price for Norway ($3.3 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+124.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of wood, when their volume decreased by -7% to 2M cubic meters. Overall, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 109% against the previous year. The exports peaked at 2.2M cubic meters in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, exports of wood fell to $23M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +72.0% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 60%. The exports peaked at $25M in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 7.4%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at 7M cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, imports of wood contracted to $16M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 22%. Imports peaked at $22M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
