The average import price for wood stood at $17.3 per cubic meter in November 2021, growing by 6.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2021 when the average import price increased by 10% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $20.5 per cubic meter. From August 2021 to November 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($21.8 per cubic meter), while the price for Luxembourg ($7.8 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to November 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for wood stood at $3.5 per cubic meter in 2022, dropping by -23.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 66% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5.9 per cubic meter. From 2021 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($22 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Austria ($1.5 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of wood decreased by -15% to 959K cubic meters in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 43%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.1M cubic meters, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, imports of wood declined to $19M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 19%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $21M, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, exports of wood shrank to $3.9M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 13% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $4.3M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
