In December 2021, the average export price for wood amounted to $8.4 per cubic meter, waning by -4% against the previous month. Over the last eleven months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2021 an increase of 23% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $8.7 per cubic meter in November 2021, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($11.6 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Poland ($4.9 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for wood amounted to $2.8 per cubic meter, which is down by -16.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3.3 per cubic meter, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3.8 per cubic meter), while the price for Austria ($1.9 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the amount of wood exported from the Czech Republic shrank to 2.3M cubic meters, waning by -6.4% against the previous year. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.5M cubic meters, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, exports of wood contracted to $16M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 27%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $18M, and then shrank in the following year.

In 2022, purchases abroad of wood was finally on the rise to reach 1.9M cubic meters after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt slump. Imports peaked at 2.2M cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of wood dropped significantly to $5.3M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +27.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 45%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $6.3M, and then fell significantly in the following year.
