In 2022, the average wood; posts and beams import price amounted to $1,560 per ton, picking up by 50% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a mild decrease. The import price peaked at $1,752 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($4,306 per ton), while the price for Austria ($653 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Wood; Posts and Beams in Algeria
For the third year in a row, Algeria recorded decline in supplies from abroad of wood; posts and beamses, which decreased by -32% to 16 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a precipitous curtailment. The smallest decline of -2.5% was in 2021.
