In 2022, the average wood; posts and beams import price amounted to $1,271 per ton, surging by 3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 40%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,849 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,548 per ton), while the price for India stood at $1,233 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.7%).
Imports of Wood; Posts and Beams in Nepal
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of wood; posts and beamses, when their volume decreased by -31.1% to 701 tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 396%.
In value terms, wood; posts and beams imports dropped significantly to $890K in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 399%.
