Price for Wood; Posts and Beams in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2021
The average wood; posts and beams import price stood at $1,436 per ton in November 2021, picking up by 4.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in September 2021 an increase of 14% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,503 per ton. From October 2021 to November 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($2,726 per ton), while the price for Italy ($584 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2020 to November 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Wood; Posts and Beams in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2021
The average wood; posts and beams export price stood at $1,250 per ton in November 2021, which is down by -15.4% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2021 when the average export price increased by 25% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,640 per ton in June 2021; however, from July 2021 to November 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Curacao ($1,909 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($899 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2020 to November 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Wood; Posts and Beams in the Netherlands
For the fourth year in a row, the Netherlands recorded growth in overseas purchases of wood; posts and beamses, which increased by 6.6% to 15K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, wood; posts and beams imports contracted to $21M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 13%.

In 2022, exports of wood; posts and beamses from the Netherlands skyrocketed to 4.3K tons, with an increase of 61% on 2021 figures. In general, exports posted a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 62%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 5.1K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
