In 2022, the average wood; shingles and shakes import price amounted to $3,367 per ton, which is down by -5.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,569 per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +5.0% per year.
Imports of Wood; Shingles and Shakes in Sri Lanka
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of wood; shingles and shakeses increased by 8.8% to 10 tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a deep setback.
