In November 2023, the average export price for wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn amounted to $2,538 per ton, surging by 8.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 8.8% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $2,849 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to November 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,117 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($2,125 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $7,228 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Australia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the UK amounted to -3.0% per year.
