In November 2023, the average export price for wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn amounted to $1,308 per ton, with a decrease of -2.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2023 an increase of 7.2% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,337 per ton, and then contracted slightly in the following month.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In November 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to Portugal ($1,490 per ton) and Poland ($1,465 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($1,129 per ton) and the UK ($1,145 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn stood at $3,169 per ton in November 2023, dropping by -33.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2023 when the average import price increased by 174% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $7,168 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($3,171 per ton), while the price for the UK totaled $1,979 per ton.
From January 2023 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn decreased by -18.2% to 6.6K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +35.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 8.1K tons, and then fell sharply in the following year.
In value terms, exports of wool; (not carded or combed), degreased, (not carbonised), shorn reduced dramatically to $8M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 27%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $10M, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
