In April 2024, the average export price for wool; wool tops and other combed wool, other than in fragmentses amounted to $9,874 per ton, rising by 3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 when the average export price increased by 20% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $10,870 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to April 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In April 2024, the country with the highest price was Peru ($14,171 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($4,317 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In April 2024, the average import price for wool; wool tops and other combed wool, other than in fragmentses amounted to $14,467 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2024 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $20,521 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to April 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($17,671 per ton), while the price for Germany ($10,604 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. 17K tons of wool; wool tops and other combed wool, other than in fragmentses were exported from the Czech Republic; shrinking by -2.7% on 2021 figures. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 28%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 17K tons, and then fell slightly in the following year.

In value terms, exports of wool; wool tops and other combed wool, other than in fragmentses shrank slightly to $165M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 19%.
