Price for Yarn; of Flax, Single in Turkey (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average yarn; of flax, single import price amounted to $13,424 per ton, increasing by 1.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 20% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $15,551 per ton. From May 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($24,305 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($9,115 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average yarn; of flax, single export price stood at $6,934 per ton in 2022, dropping by -9.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 65%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $7,943 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($11,911 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($1,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Yarn; of Flax, Single in Turkey

In 2022, the amount of yarn; of flax, singles imported into Turkey surged to 4.6K tons, increasing by 16% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +106.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 78% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, yarn; of flax, single imports surged to $59M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 91%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Overall, exports, however, showed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 198%.
