In October 2023, the average import price for yarn; of jute or of other textile bast fibres, singles amounted to $1,260 per ton, picking up by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 19% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $1,577 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($1,282 per ton), while the price for India stood at $1,135 per ton.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 15% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,895 per ton. From January 2023 to October 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($1,621 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($1,169 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
