In 2022, the average import price for yarn of other vegetable textile fibres; paper yarns amounted to $2,983 per ton, increasing by 19% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight decline. The import price peaked at $4,129 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($4,050 per ton), while the price for Italy ($2,356 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a modest increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2024 when the average export price increased by 68% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $7,439 per ton, and then contracted remarkably in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($30,748 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($1,695 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2023 to March 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+27.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
