Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Kenya (FOB) - 2022
The average yoghurt and fermented milk export price stood at $2,617 per ton in 2022, reducing by -19.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 82% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,256 per ton, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($3,647 per ton), while the average price for exports to Somalia ($1,019 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Tanzania (+19.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average yoghurt and fermented milk import price stood at $2,990 per ton in 2022, reducing by -3.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 104%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $3,398 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($23,985 per ton), while the price for Uganda ($1,322 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+49.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Kenya
In 2022, approx. 89 tons of yoghurt and fermented milk were exported from Kenya; declining by -11.1% on the previous year's figure. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
