Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
The average yoghurt and fermented milk import price stood at $4,089 per ton in December 2021, surging by 5% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a pronounced expansion from December 2020 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, yoghurt and fermented milk import price increased by +16.4% against October 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2021 an increase of 14% month-to-month. The import price peaked in December 2021.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($6,831 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($2,376 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
The average yoghurt and fermented milk export price stood at $1,879 per ton in December 2021, picking up by 9.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2021 an increase of 23% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,175 per ton in August 2021; however, from September 2021 to December 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Maldives ($5,066 per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia ($754 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brunei Darussalam (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Malaysia
In 2022, approx. 13K tons of yoghurt and fermented milk were imported into Malaysia; which is down by -7.1% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year.
In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk imports declined to $40M in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
