Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Spain (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average yoghurt and fermented milk export price amounted to $1,891 per ton, with a decrease of -1.9% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 10% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $2,013 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,050 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($1,364 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average yoghurt and fermented milk import price stood at $2,027 per ton in June 2023, dropping by -1.5% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 17% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,115 per ton. From May 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($2,507 per ton), while the price for Austria ($1,502 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Spain
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of yoghurt and fermented milk decreased by -1.3% to 161K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 22%.
In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk exports expanded modestly to $250M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.4% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +49.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 25%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
