Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in the UK (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average yoghurt and fermented milk import price amounted to $2,179 per ton, declining by -3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a slight decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 an increase of 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,744 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Greece ($3,214 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($1,530 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+2.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in the UK (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average yoghurt and fermented milk export price amounted to $1,156 per ton, picking up by 22% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible setback. The export price peaked at $2,248 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($9,574 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($1,834 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in the UK
In 2022, the amount of yoghurt and fermented milk imported into the UK stood at 331K tons, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year's figure. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 3.3% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 337K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk imports rose modestly to $545M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.

For the third year in a row, the UK recorded decline in shipments abroad of yoghurt and fermented milk, which decreased by -26.3% to 32K tons in 2022. Overall, exports showed a significant contraction. The smallest decline of -8.6% was in 2020.
In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk exports dropped slightly to $57M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 5% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $100M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
