Price for Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
In July 2023, the average yoghurt and fermented milk export price amounted to $1,091 per ton, waning by -23.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 27% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,745 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($1,576 per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($743 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Libya (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average yoghurt and fermented milk import price amounted to $2,440 per ton, stabilizing at the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 23%. The import price peaked at $3,327 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($2,492 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,334 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (-4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Exports of Yoghurt and Fermented Milk in Turkey
In 2022, shipments abroad of yoghurt and fermented milk was finally on the rise to reach 8.7K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, yoghurt and fermented milk exports skyrocketed to $10M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a mild decrease.
