Price for Zinc; Bars, Rods, Profiles and Wire in the United States (FOB) - 2024

In December 2023, the average export price for zinc; bars, rods, profiles and wires amounted to $4,188 per ton, growing by 4.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2023 an increase of 67% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $6,898 per ton. From July 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Honduras ($5,639 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($3,981 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (-0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for zinc; bars, rods, profiles and wires stood at $4,393 per ton in December 2023, picking up by 15% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $4,732 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($10,646 per ton), while the price for India ($3,204 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third consecutive year, the United States recorded decline in shipments abroad of zinc; bars, rods, profiles and wires, which decreased by -58.8% to 3.4K tons in 2022. In general, exports faced a dramatic decrease. The smallest decline of -8.5% was in 2020.

In value terms, exports of zinc; bars, rods, profiles and wires fell sharply to $23M in 2022. Overall, exports saw a deep slump. The smallest decline of -7% was in 2020.
