Price for Zinc; Dust, Powders and Flakes in Italy (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for zinc; dust, powders and flakeses stood at $4,467 per ton in June 2023, reducing by -4.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 20% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $5,676 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($5,482 per ton), while the price for India ($3,615 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Denmark (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for zinc; dust, powders and flakeses stood at $5,236 per ton in July 2023, surging by 33% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded temperate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 129% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $7,433 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($6,549 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($2,203 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

For the third year in a row, Italy recorded decline in overseas purchases of zinc; dust, powders and flakeses, which decreased by -2.7% to 1.5K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a deep downturn.
