The average import price for zinc; dust, powders and flakeses stood at $4,546 per ton in November 2023, with an increase of 3.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,147 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,608 per ton), while the price for Austria totaled $4,266 per ton.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average export price for zinc; dust, powders and flakeses stood at $2,147 per ton in 2022, dropping by -13.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate moderate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 177%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,709 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($5,811 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($331 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, zinc; dust, powders and flakes imports into Slovenia fell to 1.2K tons, with a decrease of -12.4% against 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
