Price for Zinc; Dust, Powders and Flakes in the United States (CIF) - 2023
The average import price for zinc; dust, powders and flakeses stood at $4,124 per ton in August 2023, falling by -1.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 6.6% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4,726 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($4,076 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($1,300 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In August 2023, the average export price for zinc; dust, powders and flakeses amounted to $4,722 per ton, rising by 3.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $5,486 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($5,142 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($2,342 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
