In 2022, the average import price for zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils amounted to $3,056 per ton, dropping by -21.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 34% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $3,889 per ton in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($14,025 per ton), while the price for China ($2,033 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Panama (+16.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils decreased by -34.6% to 150 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 112%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 333 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imports of zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils fell significantly to $460K in 2022. Overall, imports showed a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 176% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.4M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.
