Price for Zinc; Waste and Scrap in Hungary (FOB) - 2023

The average zinc; waste and scrap export price stood at $1,994 per ton in July 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 29% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,430 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2,274 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($1,128 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average zinc; waste and scrap import price amounted to $1,458 per ton, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 34% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,815 per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($1,974 per ton), while the price for Germany ($247 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Zinc; Waste and Scrap in Hungary

In 2022, overseas shipments of zinc; waste and scraps increased by 3.4% to 2.5K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced slump.
