Price for Zinc; Waste and Scrap in Morocco (FOB) - 2022

In December 2022, the average zinc; waste and scrap export price amounted to $1,632 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 42% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,335 per ton. From September 2022 to December 2022, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was India ($1,653 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates totaled $1,553 per ton.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average zinc; waste and scrap import price amounted to $2,015 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,078 per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($6,100 per ton), while the price for Senegal stood at $1,016 per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+23.0%).

Exports of Zinc; Waste and Scrap in Morocco

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of zinc; waste and scraps, when their volume decreased by -14.9% to 2.3K tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 75% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.8K tons, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, zinc; waste and scrap exports rose sharply to $4.7M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 111%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
