Price for Zinc; Waste and Scrap in Slovakia (FOB) - 2023

The average zinc; waste and scrap export price stood at $2,153 per ton in June 2023, declining by -9.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 45% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,300 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were France ($2,508 per ton) and the Czech Republic ($2,143 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($1,837 per ton) and Austria ($1,873 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (-1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average zinc; waste and scrap import price stood at $3,315 per ton in 2021, picking up by 80% against the previous year. Overall, the import price enjoyed buoyant growth. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($3,644 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($1,009 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Zinc; Waste and Scrap in Slovakia
