Price for Zinc; Waste and Scrap in the UK (FOB) - 2023

In June 2023, the average zinc; waste and scrap export price amounted to $2,370 per ton, shrinking by -14.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 66% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,293 per ton. From May 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($3,344 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sri Lanka ($1,988 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+21.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 52% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,889 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,849 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($1,534 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
