Iron and Non-Alloy Steel in Ingot Production in Vietnam - 2022
In 2022, production of iron and non-alloy steel in ingots decreased by -0.1% to 23M tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year rising trend. In general, production, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 1,216,543% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production of hit record highs at 23M tons in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
In value terms, production of iron and non-alloy steel in ingots expanded significantly to $19.5B in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, enjoyed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Production of peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
