Lentil Production in Russia - 2022
In 2022, production of lentils increased by 46% to 258K tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. Over the period under review, production enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the production volume increased by 52%. Lentil production peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future. Lentil output in Russia indicated a prominent increase, which was largely conditioned by a resilient increase of the harvested area and a relatively flat trend pattern in yield figures.
In value terms, lentil production rose rapidly to $65M in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 31%. Lentil production peaked at $144M in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Lentil Harvested Area in Russia - 2022
In 2022, the lentil harvested area in Russia skyrocketed to 217K ha, picking up by 34% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, the harvested area enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the harvested area increased by 52% against the previous year. As a result, the harvested area attained the peak level of 248K ha. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the lentil harvested area remained at a lower figure.
Lentil Yield in Russia - 2022
In 2022, the average lentil yield in Russia rose remarkably to 1.2 tons per ha, increasing by 8.9% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, the yield, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 22%. The lentil yield peaked at 1.2 tons per ha in 2017; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
