Maize (Green) Production in Kazakhstan - 2022
In 2022, production of maize (green) decreased by -1.2% to 859 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 5.3% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak volume of 901 tons. From 2019 to 2022, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure. Maize (green) output in Kazakhstan indicated a relatively flat trend pattern, which was largely conditioned by a relatively flat trend pattern of the harvested area and a relatively flat trend pattern in yield figures.
In value terms, maize (green) production dropped notably to $138K in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production showed a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the production volume increased by 96% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $237K in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The maize (green) harvested area in Kazakhstan stood at 34 ha in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the harvested area showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the harvested area increased by 3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the harvested area dedicated to maize (green) production reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Maize (Green) Yield in Kazakhstan - 2022
In 2022, the average maize (green) yield in Kazakhstan dropped modestly to 25 tons per ha, remaining stable against the year before. In general, the yield, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the yield increased by 5.3% against the previous year. As a result, the yield reached the peak level of 27 tons per ha. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the average maize (green) yield remained at a lower figure.
