Mango and Mangosteen Production in Guatemala - 2022
After two years of growth, production of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas decreased by -0.5% to 126K tons in 2022. In general, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the production volume increased by 1%. As a result, production reached the peak volume of 127K tons, leveling off in the following year. Mango and mangosteen output in Guatemala indicated a relatively flat trend pattern, which was largely conditioned by a relatively flat trend pattern of the harvested area and a relatively flat trend pattern in yield figures.
In value terms, mango and mangosteen production dropped to $52M in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production saw a noticeable decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the production volume increased by 28%. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $61M in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, approx. 9.6K ha of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas were harvested in Guatemala; standing approx. at 2021 figures. Overall, the harvested area, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 2% against the previous year. As a result, the harvested area attained the peak level of 9.6K ha; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

The average yield of mangoes, mangosteens and guavas in Guatemala shrank slightly to 13 tons per ha in 2022, approximately mirroring 2021 figures. In general, the yield showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the yield increased by 0.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average mango and mangosteen yield reached the peak level at 13 tons per ha in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the yield remained at a lower figure.
