Oat Production in Ukraine - 2022
In 2022, approx. 489K tons of oats were produced in Ukraine; increasing by 4.5% against the year before. Overall, production saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak volume of 510K tons. From 2021 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure. Oat output in Ukraine indicated a relatively flat trend pattern, which was largely conditioned by a relatively flat trend pattern of the harvested area and modest growth in yield figures.
In value terms, oat production totaled $105M in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% from 2017 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the production volume increased by 22% against the previous year. Oat production peaked at $107M in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Oat Harvested Area in Ukraine - 2022
In 2022, the total area harvested in terms of oats production in Ukraine rose notably to 189K ha, growing by 5.9% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, the harvested area, however, continues to indicate a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the harvested area increased by 9.4% against the previous year. As a result, the harvested area attained the peak level of 199K ha. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the oat harvested area failed to regain momentum.
Oat Yield in Ukraine - 2022
The average yield of oats in Ukraine fell modestly to 2.6 tons per ha in 2022, approximately equating 2021 figures. The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2017 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 10%. The oat yield peaked at 2.6 tons per ha in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
