In 2022, approx. 1.5M tons of onions (dry) were produced in Mexico; increasing by 4% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, production, however, showed a mild decline. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at 1.6M tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure. Onion output in Mexico indicated a slight descent, which was largely conditioned by a mild curtailment of the harvested area and a relatively flat trend pattern in yield figures.

The average yield of onions (dry) in Mexico reached 31 tons per ha in 2022, surging by 1.8% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, the yield, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern.
