In 2022, production of onions (dry) decreased by -1.5% to 1M tons, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. In general, production, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the production volume increased by 7.4%. As a result, production reached the peak volume of 1.1M tons. From 2021 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum. Onion output in Myanmar indicated a relatively flat trend pattern, which was largely conditioned by a relatively flat trend pattern of the harvested area and a relatively flat trend pattern in yield figures.
