Pumpkin Production in Pakistan - 2022
In 2022, the amount of pumpkin (squash and gourds) produced in Pakistan stood at 268K tons, remaining relatively unchanged against the year before. Over the period under review, production, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the production volume increased by 0.6%. Pumpkin production peaked at 271K tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure. Pumpkin output in Pakistan indicated a relatively flat trend pattern, which was largely conditioned by a relatively flat trend pattern of the harvested area and a relatively flat trend pattern in yield figures.
In value terms, pumpkin production expanded remarkably to $356M in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the production volume increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $387M in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.
Pumpkin Harvested Area in Pakistan - 2022
In 2022, approx. 28K ha of pumpkin (squash and gourds) were harvested in Pakistan; approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the harvested area showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the harvested area increased by 5.1% against the previous year. As a result, the harvested area attained the peak level of 28K ha. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the pumpkin harvested area remained at a lower figure.
Pumpkin Yield in Pakistan - 2022
The average yield of pumpkin (squash and gourds) in Pakistan fell slightly to 9.8 tons per ha in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. Overall, the yield saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average pumpkin yield hit record highs at 10 tons per ha in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the yield remained at a lower figure.
