Rye Production in the UK - 2022
In 2022, the amount of rye produced in the UK declined dramatically to 133K tons, waning by -31.3% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, production, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the production volume increased by 168% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak volume of 194K tons, and then reduced dramatically in the following year. Rye output in the UK indicated a significant increase, which was largely conditioned by significant growth of the harvested area and significant growth in yield figures.
In value terms, rye production shrank dramatically to $32M in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production continues to indicate a abrupt setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the production volume increased by 160% against the previous year. Rye production peaked at $106M in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.
Rye Harvested Area in the UK - 2022
The rye harvested area in the UK dropped significantly to 38K ha in 2022, falling by -16.8% compared with the year before. In general, the harvested area, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. As a result, the harvested area attained the peak level of 45K ha, and then reduced notably in the following year.
Rye Yield in the UK - 2022
The average yield of rye in the UK reduced dramatically to 3.5 tons per ha in 2022, falling by -17.4% on the year before. Overall, the yield, however, saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 116% against the previous year. The rye yield peaked at 4.3 tons per ha in 2021, and then declined significantly in the following year.
