Pulp; of Bamboo Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average pulp; of bamboo export price amounted to $541 per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 223% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,578 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($696 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($525 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Panama (+89.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price peaked at $1,902 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,550 per ton), while the price for Germany ($636 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the amount of pulp; of bambooes exported from the United States surged to 1.1K tons, jumping by 58% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total exports indicated modest growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -3.6% against 2020 indices.

In value terms, pulp; of bamboo exports soared to $591K in 2022. In 2022, overseas purchases of pulp; of bambooes decreased by -21.6% to 212 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 89% against the previous year.

In value terms, pulp; of bamboo imports reduced to $237K in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 55% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $270K, and then contracted in the following year.
