In 2022, the average pulp; of bamboo import price amounted to $1,405 per ton, surging by 27% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. The import price peaked at $1,913 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2,522 per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($1,259 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Pulp; of Bamboo Imports in Ukraine

In 2022, purchases abroad of pulp; of bambooes decreased by -13.8% to 504 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 840%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 585 tons, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, pulp; of bamboo imports rose rapidly to $708K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 456% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
