Pulses Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022
The average pulses import price stood at $1,139 per ton in 2022, surging by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a perceptible descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 27%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,666 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ethiopia ($3,974 per ton), while the price for China ($376 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ethiopia (+24.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average pulses export price stood at $601 per ton in 2022, falling by -14.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 55%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,461 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
