Pulses Price in the UK (CIF) - 2022
The average pulses import price stood at $1,054 per ton in 2022, surging by 7.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,066 per ton in 2015; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,465 per ton), while the price for Denmark ($409 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pulses Price in the UK (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average pulses export price amounted to $466 per ton, falling by -4.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 14%. The export price peaked at $606 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($1,333 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($390 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, overseas purchases of pulses decreased by -0.3% to 229K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt decline.
