Quartzite Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
The average quartzite export price stood at $730 per ton in July 2023, rising by 34% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a temperate expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, quartzite export price increased by +33.8% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 an increase of 69% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $730 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($861 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($272 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average quartzite import price stood at $429 per ton in 2022, waning by -3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 56%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $592 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($462 per ton), while the price for Spain stood at $398 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Quartzite Exports in Brazil
For the fourth year in a row, Brazil recorded growth in overseas shipments of quartzite, which increased by 9.8% to 155K tons in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, quartzite exports rose sharply to $92M in 2022. In general, exports posted a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
