The average quartzite import price stood at $439 per ton in July 2023, shrinking by -24.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 33% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $674 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($1,764 per ton), while the price for Canada ($272 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Quartzite Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
The average quartzite export price stood at $546 per ton in 2022, reducing by -12.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, quartzite export price increased by +35.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 84%.
