Quince Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
The average quince import price stood at $868 per ton in September 2023, reducing by -32.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a mild reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 87% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,838 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Greece ($1,134 per ton), while the price for France ($730 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+32.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Quince Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average quince export price amounted to $1,306 per ton, waning by -32.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 33%. The export price peaked at $1,936 per ton in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($2,638 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($765 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
