Quinoa Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average quinoa import price amounted to $3,267 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 78%. The import price peaked at $8,607 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,075 per ton), while the price for Spain ($2,092 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Quinoa Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average quinoa export price amounted to $4,091 per ton, with a decrease of -5.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a mild slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 62%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $10,089 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($4,784 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($3,027 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (-3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Quinoa Imports in Hungary
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of quinoa decreased by -16.3% to 170 tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 25%.
In value terms, quinoa imports reduced sharply to $555K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $682K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
