Reconstituted Wood Product Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average reconstituted wood product import price amounted to $2,722 per ton, with an increase of 7.1% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 32% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,755 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Canada ($7,342 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($519 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Reconstituted Wood Product Price in the United States (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average reconstituted wood product export price amounted to $24,458 per ton, picking up by 93% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $113,649 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($47,054 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($383 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Reconstituted Wood Product Imports in the United States
For the fourth year in a row, the United States recorded growth in supplies from abroad of reconstituted wood products, which increased by 34% to 2.5M tons in 2022. Overall, imports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 239%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, reconstituted wood product imports declined to $5.7B in 2022. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 84% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $5.8B, and then declined in the following year.

Reconstituted Wood Product Exports in the United States
In 2022, overseas shipments of reconstituted wood products decreased by -40.8% to 23K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 731%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 47K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, reconstituted wood product exports rose remarkably to $566M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
