Refined Olive Oil Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average refined olive oil import price amounted to $7,461 per ton, picking up by 5.2% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a measured increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, refined olive oil import price increased by +11.2% against March 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 16% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure in September 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($7,472 per ton), while the price for Spain amounted to $7,190 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Refined Olive Oil Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2022
The average refined olive oil export price stood at $9,716 per ton in 2022, increasing by 44% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted a strong expansion. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malta ($13,318 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bahamas ($4,477 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+45.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Refined Olive Oil Imports in Brazil
In 2022, purchases abroad of refined olive oil decreased by -0.4% to 17K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -12.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 58%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 19K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, refined olive oil imports expanded rapidly to $80M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +68.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
