Refined Olive Oil Price in Norway (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average refined olive oil import price amounted to $6,014 per ton, with a decrease of -4.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated noticeable growth from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, refined olive oil import price decreased by -7.7% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 23% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $6,518 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($8,081 per ton), while the price for Spain stood at $5,758 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Refined Olive Oil Price in Norway (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average refined olive oil export price amounted to $36,610 per ton, rising by 29% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 344%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($331,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($23,979 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ghana (+88.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Refined Olive Oil Imports in Norway
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of refined olive oil decreased by -30.7% to 1.8K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 9.7%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.6K tons, and then declined markedly in the following year.
In value terms, refined olive oil imports contracted notably to $7.5M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 21%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $9M, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In 2022, shipments abroad of refined olive oil was finally on the rise to reach 277 kg after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep reduction.
