Refined Palm Oil Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2022
The average refined palm oil import price stood at $1,806 per ton in 2022, growing by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 46%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($2,030 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($923 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Refined Palm Oil Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2023
The average refined palm oil export price stood at $1,616 per ton in July 2023, growing by 3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 44% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,258 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Romania ($1,622 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece totaled $1,581 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (-2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Refined Palm Oil Imports in Bulgaria
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of refined palm oil increased by 13% to 29K tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt descent.
In value terms, refined palm oil imports surged to $52M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +68.7% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
