Refined Palm Oil Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2023
The average refined palm oil import price stood at $1,243 per ton in August 2023, rising by 4.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a noticeable decline. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,784 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Sweden ($2,056 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,131 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Refined Palm Oil Price in Ukraine (FOB) - 2022
The average refined palm oil export price stood at $1,856 per ton in 2022, growing by 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 46% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Moldova ($2,066 per ton) and North Macedonia ($1,697 per ton), while the average price for exports to Armenia ($1,600 per ton) and Belarus ($1,638 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to North Macedonia (+15.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Refined Palm Oil Imports in Ukraine
In 2022, approx. 111K tons of refined palm oil were imported into Ukraine; with a decrease of -54.9% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports faced a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 246K tons, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, refined palm oil imports shrank remarkably to $164M in 2022. In general, imports, however, posted a perceptible expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $277M, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
